Globally Rare Natural Communities in New York

Each natural community is assigned a conservation status rank based on its rarity and vulnerability at the state and global level. Both ranks are based on its distribution, number of occurrences, viability of the occurrences, and the vulnerability of the community around the globe or across the state. There are about 25 globally rare natural communities in NY (ranked G1 - G2G3) and three are likely "One Hit Natural Wonders" - communities with only one example in the world and found only in NY.
