Max joined NYNHP in 2017 as the State Lands Assessment Project Manager. He works primarily in the Adirondack Preserve, surveying and delineating natural communities, with emphasis on identifying old-growth forests and exemplary natural communities. Max earned his B.S. and M.S. in Applied Ecology from Michigan Technological University and his Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is an avid hiker, birdwatcher, and beer brewer in his sparse time.
